About Amanda

Amanda is a Project Manager at Laisar providing operational support including building relations with project stakeholders, tracking timelines, and preparing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation and reports. Amanda works closely with the Analysts and Executive Management to help manage business processes from a holistic perspective.

Amanda received her Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and minor in Health and Society from Wellesley College in 2017. She has served as a research assistant and the first lab manager for the AAC&U award-winning Interdisciplinary Research Group on Privacy/Coleman Research Lab, in addition to serving as an assistant event and communications manager for the Summer Institutes in Computational Social Science’s partner location sponsored by Howard University and Mathematica.

Before joining Laisar, she was an ophthalmic technician and scribe at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute, where she worked hands-on with the latest technologies in ophthalmology to assist doctors in caring for patients with a variety of eye conditions. During this time, Amanda studied business analysis, data analytics, and data visualization – combined with her liberal arts education, research background, and prior work experience, this has enabled her to hone a conscientious and meticulous nature which she brings to Laisar.

Storytelling in the World of Data

Amanda has co-authored five blog posts in a series called “The Future of Computational Social Science is Black,” about SICSS-Howard/Mathematica, the first Summer Institute in Computational Social Science held at a Historically Black College or University.

She enjoys further expanding and applying her writing skills at Laisar through opportunities to work on project documentation, impact reporting, and company insights. In the process, she gets to delve deeper into the positive socio-economic impacts of business diversity and communicate the power of data-driven strategies in this field.

Organizations of all sizes are increasingly seeing the value of doing business with local supply chains and specifically with diverse businesses within their communities.
